— In this video, I show everything you need to know about Tailscale, including how to set it up and use it with Uas4g5gLte. It is very simple and intuitive. Watch it closely !!!
- Tailscale VPN:
- Important things about Tailscale:
— Just like in the case of ZEROTIER, TAILSCALE can create two types of connections: a DIRECT connection and a RELAY connection. A DIRECT connection is always preferable, but unfortunately we don’t get to choose it—your network/operator and NAT conditions determine whether it’s possible. Tailscale will try to negotiate the safest and fastest connection, but it doesn’t depend only on Tailscale.
— If a DIRECT connection is established, the latency between devices is extremely low, around 20–30 ms, which is excellent. Unfortunately, you won’t always get a DIRECT connection, and then you may fall back to a RELAY connection, which is slower but still good enough for 4G LTE, where you can expect average latencies around 200 ms, typically in the 100–300 ms range.
— For people who do racing, this might not be ideal, but for those who want long range and don’t mind receiving video with about a quarter of a second of latency, it’s definitely fine. In the end, what matters is that you always stay in contact with your drone and receive video and telemetry continuously, regardless of distance—and 250 ms is nothing.
